William Ridley, age 73, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was born July 13, 1952 in the city of Canton, Ohio.
William was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School, and gained his Associate's Degree from Walsh University. He was employed at the Ford Motor Company for 27 years, and retired in 2020. William was a lover of golfing, singing, and attending sports events. More than anything, William cherished his time with his family. He was a member Gethsemane Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, van driver, maintenance, and chairman of the trustee board. He was also a Mason, through the Prince Hall Affiliation #42 (Mississippi), and served proudly in the U.S. AirForce as a Sergeant.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aldene "Joe" Ridley; mother, Ruby Ridley; brothers, Roger and Frank Ridley; sister, Barbara Amison.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty Ridley; daughter, Leah Weir; son, Troy Johnson; grandchildren, Dierre Dillworth, Ki`Ara Chambers, and Tori Johnson; brother, Phil (Willadean) Ridley; sisters, Freda Ward and Vivian Williams; a life-long friend, Leon Winn, and special friend Aaron "Buddy" Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and family may call from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Paquelet Funeral Home. A Home Going Celebration will take place at 1:00pm with burial and military honors to follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
