Vincent "Vince" Dennison passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at Amherst Meadows in Massillon, OH, at the age of 88. He was born on July 31, 1937, in Parkersburg, WV, to Nina May Vincent and John Hugh Dennison. His father was a pastor in the Methodist church and instilled in him a love for Jesus and the Christian faith that gave him and his family comfort in his final days.

Vincent spent most of his life in Parkersburg. He was a Mason with 50 years of service and a patriot who loved his country well. His professional career included everything from being one of the first computer users at the Public Debt and Borg Warner to managing a hotel in Florida. He enjoyed investing in real estate and home renovation projects and passed his extensive knowledge and knack for creative problem-solving to his beloved son-in-law Gilbert.

Vincent enjoyed traveling, taking his grandchildren on a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country trip to California in 1989 and spending many seasons appreciating the warm weather and ocean views in Vero Beach, FL, where he built two houses. His deep appreciation for the woods and wildlife of West Virginia led him to be an avid hunter for most of his life, with his gun eventually being replaced by a camera in his later years.

Vincent was a loving friend, father and papaw to those who had the honor of knowing him, and his life will leave a mark for generations to come. He will be forever remembered for his big red van, love of trains, seemingly endless supply of Doublemint gum and caramel creams, and ever-present cup of black coffee from JR's Donut Castle.

Vincent's favorite song was "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, and he took those words to heart. He loved his family fiercely, always there to be a listening ear or offer practical help, but he was also known for his resilience, determination and dedication to living life on his own terms.

Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son Gregory Vincent Dennison, and his lifelong best friend, Sam Pugh. He is survived by his daughter Marchaela Shepard (Gilbert); grandchildren Angel Sprouse (Tim), Gilbert Vincent Shepard (Leigh Ann), and Katelynne Shepard; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Amherst Meadows and Crossroads Hospice for their kindness and compassion during Vincent's time in their care. A private memorial service will be held at Paquelet Funeral Home.

"And now the end is near. And so I face the final curtain. My friend, I'll say it clear. I'll state my case, of which I'm certain. I've lived a life that's full. I traveled each and every highway. And more, much more than this, I did it my way." - Frank Sinatra
