Vera Mae Taylor, a beloved mother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the age of 92 after a short illness. Born on April 4, 1934, at Goat Hill, Vera’s life was marked by dedication, compassion, and a steadfast love for her family.
From an early age, Vera exhibited a deep commitment to caring for others - a quality that would come to define both her personal and professional life. She attended Brewster High School, where she forged lifelong friendships and began laying the foundation for her future in the field of nursing after graduating from the Massillon City School of Nursing. She advanced her career to become the Head of Nursing for the State of Ohio at Indian River. In this demanding and vital role, Vera touched countless lives, offering comfort, advocacy, and expertise. Her commitment to the health and well-being of her community remains a lasting testament to her character.
Family was at the heart of everything Vera did. She was the cherished daughter of Blaine and Myrtle McFarren, both of whom preceded her in death. Vera’s legacy continues through her surviving family: her devoted daughter, Lisa (Tim) McIndoe; sister, Janice (Ron) Feller; niece, Mika Hayes; sister/cousin Rhea Hays; and her bonus grandchildren, Rosie, Daniel, David, Angel, Luna, Sue, and Michael (deceased). Each relationship was nurtured with patience and unconditional love, strengths for which her family will always be grateful.
Though Vera has left this world, the lessons she taught through quiet strength, unwavering compassion, and boundless love endure. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
To honor Vera's memorable life and profound impact, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Grace United Church of Christ, 933 Main Avenue West, Massillon, OH 44647. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Vera are invited to attend and remember a remarkable woman who gave so much of herself to others.
