Samuel A. Miller II, 73, of Massillon, passed away on June 3, 2025 at Aultman Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born on November 30, 1951 to the late Jack and Patricia (Gray) Miller in Millersburg, OH.
A graduate of Alliance High School and Kent State University, Sam retired from The Massillon Police Dept. in 2000, where he served as a Lieutenant. He also was the handler for the first narcotic K-9 unit in the City of Massillon. He was a veteran of The United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He loved to fish and go boating. Sam was dedicated to his family and his dogs. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Henderson Lodge 105 and Agathon Kennel Club. He had a appreciation for music that he passed along to his children. Sam had a passion for The Constitution, especially the First and Second Amendment.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sharon Layne- Miller; children, Dustin Savage, Samuel A. Miller III, Amber L. Miller, and Tricia (Samuel McBeth) Mares; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Debbie (Carl) Gustafson and Karen Lawrence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracie K. Miller; and brother, Jack Miller II.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, 7:00 pm at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home.
