Ronald R. Sibila

Ronald R. Sibila, 94, of Massillon, Ohio, died September 21, 2026. He was the loving Husband of Jane E. Remley Sibila for 69 years, who predeceased him three years ago. Father of Shelley Habermann (Joseph – deceased), Mike Sibila (Laura), Linda Miller (Dave), Joni Locke (Todd), and Douglas Sibila. He was the son of Raymond and Helen Sibila (both deceased); brother of Jean Hodgson (deceased) and Donald R. Sibila (deceased). Grandfather of Joe Habermann, Liz Habermann (deceased), Dakin Sibila (Melissa), John Miller, Shaun Miller (Carissa), Nick Miller, Noah Miller (Sarah), Sarah Miller, Vivian Miller, Tara Miller (Zach), Todd Locke (Molly), Helen Sibila, and Kate Sibila. Great-grandfather to Joey Habermann, Hannibal Sibila, Milani Miller, Kai Miller, Zoey Miller, Jaxson Miller, Juliet Locke, and June Locke.

He was born on April 25, 1932, in Massillon, Ohio. He attended St. Mary Elementary School and graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School in 1950; he received St. Mary’s Alumni of the Year award and was named to Central Catholic’s inaugural Hall of Fame Class in 2025. He attended Ohio University graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce. While at Ohio University participating in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program, he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta and later awarded Man of the Year by his fraternity. It was there he met Jane. They were married on August 7, 1954, after his graduation. He was a member of the U. S. Air Force as a First Lieutenant and served as a Navigator and Instructor until 1957 when he returned home to help run the family business. He was still Chairman Emeritus of Peoples Services, Inc. at the time of his death.

Ron was very active in the Massillon community, Catholic Church, and trucking and moving industry. He was a past President of the Massillon Jaycees where he received Massillon’s Outstanding Jaycee award in 1962, past President and Board Member of the Massillon Automobile Club, past President of the Massillon Development Foundation where he was named as a Massillon Development Award recipient in 1996, past Vice Chairman of S D B Infrastructure Committee, past Board Member and Vice President of the Stark County Regional Transportation Authority, and past Chairman of the Massillon Incubator Managing Committee, was a Massillon Community Service Award recipient in 1990. He was named to the List of Outstanding Young Men of the United States in 1964-1965 and received the Outstanding Service Resolution by the Ohio Senate 111th General Assembly in 1975. He was the Vice President from Ohio of the American Trucking Association from 1983 through 1984 and named to the Ohio Trucking Association’s Hall of Honor in 1994, President of the Ohio Trucking Association from 1973 until 1975, President of the Mayflower Warehousemen’s Association in 1979, a Board Member if the American Movers Conference Association of Ohio Commodores. He was a Committeeman for the Boy Scouts of America having earned his Life Scout Award in his youth. He was a past President of the Advisory Board for the Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Youngstown, past Chairman of the Catholic Service League and received the Catholic Service League Community Service Award in 1984. He has been an active member of St. Mary Church in Massillon, Ohio all his life - other than the three years he lived in Houston, Texas and Sacramento, California, where he was stationed in the U. S. Air Force - and a lector for many years. Ron and Jane were founding, members of the Canton Chapter of Legatus, an international organization of Catholic business professionals. Jane and Ron loved to travel and play golf, when and where they could. Ron was a past President of Shady Hollow Country Club. They were also members at Glenmore in Canton and Pinehurst Country Club in North Carolina where they spent the winter months.
