Roger D. Ellinger, 64, of North Lawrence, passed away on July 8, 2018. He was born on June 25, 1954 in Mentone, Indiana to the late Wayne and Dolores (Dunnuck) Ellinger. He worked as maintenance and a fabricator for Gerber Poultry for 27 years. Roger was also a member of Massillon Baptist Temple where he was very active. He enjoyed bringing children to the church for Sunday School and loved singing church hymns in the choir. Roger was known as a problem solver. He would tinker on things for hours and wanted to know all aspects of the problem whether it be a mechanical issue or a scientific one, he would find a solution. His greatest pride and joy was being a family man. He loved his wife, his children and especially his grandchildren beyond words. Roger is survived by his loving wife Sue of 39 years; children Jessie (Anthony) Venables, Emily (Tommy) Moore, Roger Lewis (Kaelah) Ellinger, Franklin (Melissa) Ellinger and Robert Mitchell Ellinger; grandchildren Jose, Vanessa, Donnylee, Giovanni, Dominic, Isabella, Gideon, Kaelan and soon to be granddaughter Karline; siblings Christine (Donald) Kitch, Dennis (Becky) Ellinger, Kent (Chris) Ellinger, Candace (Arnold) Sexton, Stan (Aimee) Ellinger, Ron (Jalane) Ellinger and Lisa (Mike) Brannon. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Brad (Ethel) Ellinger and granddaughter Kennedy. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 14 from 10-12 p.m. at the Massillon Baptist Temple. A service will follow at 12 p.m. at the church with Pastor Cecil Thayer officiating. Burial will follow at Newman Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bearing Precious Seed, 1369 Woodville Pike, Milford, OH 45150.
