Robert "Bob" Nicewander, 88, of Massillon, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, following a short illness. Born on July 31, 1937, to John and Mable Nicewander, Bob grew up with his younger sister Charlotte in Massillon. His entire life he was deeply loyal to his community where he worked and raised his family.

Bob grew up attending St. John's with his parents. In the latter part of Bob’s life he and Joan were very involved with their church home, Faith Community Fellowship. A moral compass in Bob's life was his Christian faith as a follower of Jesus. His faithful Lord and Savior guided Bob, giving him strength and peace, especially through his recent illness. Bob’s deep convictions were reflected in his humble servant’s heart demeanor.

A proud graduate of Washington High School in Massillon, Bob pursued higher education at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. It was there he met Joan Beck, an attractive young woman from Suffield, Ohio. The two married in 1960 and shared a beautiful partnership spanning over six decades. After Heidelberg Bob continued his studies at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio where he earned a degree in pharmacy—a profession that would become both his career and calling.

After completing pharmacy school, Bob worked at Baltzly Drug on Erie Street in downtown Massillon. After many years Bob had the opportunity to purchase the business. Known for his professionalism, integrity, and good humor, he provided care and support to countless customers who came through the doors. After selling Baltzly's in 1995, Bob continued working as a pharmacist full-time and then part-time for an impressive total of 57 years—a testament to his unwavering work ethic and passion for helping others.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and many volunteer endeavors, Bob found immense joy in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan (Beck) Nicewander; their three precious daughters and their husbands: Kristen (and Dave) Carlson, Linda (and Dave) Brincks, and Julie (and Jeff) Perry; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who brought him great joy and delight; his sister Charlotte Baldwin (Ken), as well as treasured nieces and nephew.

Bob’s legacy is one of love, humility, and devotion—to God, to family, and to community. Those who knew him will remember his unwavering and steady presence, good humor, ready smile, and intense enthusiasm for sports and travel. Bob loved the family trips to the Outer Banks, gardening and caring for his lawn. He was always reading and learning new things. World War II history was a favorite topic. He was trustworthy, kind, and generous.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pharmacist, friend—and above all—a man of faith: Bob Nicewander will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
