Richard W. McCabe

Richard W. McCabe, 81, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on February 3, 2026.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Richard was born on November 12, 1944, to Ralph and Catherine (Crouch) McCabe. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a degree in Metallurgy, a field that reflected his lifelong interest in the sciences and technical precision.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his time working in the yard and exploring the natural beauty of Ohio. He was a frequent presence on the towpath, where he was known for his extensive knowledge of local wildflowers and his appreciation for the quiet beauty of the outdoors. Richard also enjoyed his adventures hiking the Florida Everglades looking for orchids.

He is survived by his wife Margaret McCabe; his children, Robert (Charity) McCabe, Andrew (Angela) McCabe and Ann-Marie (Steven) Titus; his sister, Elaine (Brian) Frock; one niece, thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Richard will be remembered for his sharp mind, cantankerous disposition, dedication to his family and friends and his unwavering love for wildflowers.
