Richard A. "Dick" Kress Sr.

Richard Arden "Dick" Kress Sr., 86, of Massillon, passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 3, 2025. A lifelong resident of Massillon, Dick was born on November 24, 1938 to the late Arden L. Kress and Grace {Lewis} Widder. 

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister Joan Kress and step-father Galen Widder.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Carol {Krug} Kress; children Michelle Kress-Stanton, Janee (Dan) Kress-Harland, Kim (Todd) Ricker and Rick (Jennifer) Kress, Jr.; grandchildren Gregory Stanton, Kelsey (Zach) Burch, Kamarin Ricker, Nick, Dylan, Luke and Kaitlyn Kress; great-grandson Miles Burch; sister Pearl Kress; niece Denise "DeeDee" Kress. 

Dick graduated in 1956 from Washington High School and attended The University of Akron for a year, before beginning his career with Timken and several engineering firms. Dick went back to school at ATI to study Turf Management working lawn care companies, and in 1981 started his own business named Grass Master, Inc. until his retirement in 1998. Dick enjoyed hosting holidays and family functions, golf, and the little trips he'd take with the grandkids. He had a love of old cars and motorcycles, which he took on many of these trips across the country. Dick was also a master woodworker; his family has a collection of his beautiful creations, from clocks to furniture and even musical instruments!

Family and friends are invited to visit at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd. NE Massillon, OH 44646 on Monday, March 10th from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service that begins at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor John Henniger officiating. Interment to follow at Brookfield Cemetery, where Dick will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's memory are suggested to the charity of your choice.
