Nancy Jane Paul, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 23, 2026. She was born in Massillon, Ohio on September 22, 1941 to Edward and Rebecca (Hamlin) Berry. She graduated from Washington High School in Massillon. Nancy worked for many years at Superior Brand Meats in Massillon but ultimately answered her true calling when, at the age of 49, she graduated with honors from nursing school and became an LPN. For over 20 years until her retirement from Altercare of Navarre - Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, she was a dedicated skilled nurse who showed compassion, sincere caring and respect to her patients. Her overall love of nursing and commitment to her profession resulted in her being awarded Employee of the Year.
She was a longtime charitable supporter of organizations that benefited military veterans and Native Americans. Nancy found great enjoyment and happiness in many things. She loved getting together with her sisters and friends, tending to her flower gardens, weekend getaways to attend music concerts with Johnny Mathis shows being a particular favorite, true crime books, finding good thrift stores, always having a vase of fresh-cut flowers in her kitchen and attending yoga class with lunch afterwards with the girls. Nancy was a highly knowledgeable football fan and followed her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers as well as occasionally attending Jackson High School Polar Bear football games.
Nothing, however, brought her more happiness than her family. She was a loving, generous and thoughtful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. The absolute highlight of Nancy’s life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She regularly and proudly cheered them on at their sports games, baked them her famous chocolate chip cookies and delighted in the joy of spending time with them. For many decades, she regularly hosted family gatherings at her home for Christmas Eve, her favorite holiday. The great care and attention to detail she put into those occasions left her family with endless cherished memories full of fun and love that will last a lifetime.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Betty Chaboude and Becky Davis. She is survived by William Paul; sister Shirley Jordan; children Michael Paul, Kelly Paul and Daniel (Laurie) Paul; grandchildren Alexander (Ashlee) Paul, Lexington Paul and Dylan Paul; great-grandchildren Isaac Paul and Claire Paul and many nephews, nieces, cousins and countless friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Paquelet Funeral Home at 1100 Wales Road NE in Massillon on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
