Michael C. Hamilton

Michael C. Hamilton, 78, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2026 after an 11 year courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Harry and Kathryn Hamilton, he grew up in Brewster, OH, and was known as Mike or Mick to family and friends.

Mike worked at Marathon, formerly Ashland Petroleum, for 38 years, retiring in 2006. He was also an owner of Hamilton Tree Farm for 20 years, a family business to help fund his children's college education. His wife, Kathie, and children, Mindy and Michael, worked on the farm. Mike was past President of Caroll County Christmas Tree Growers Association, where he often won 1st place for tree shearing.

He and Kathie, his wife of 58 years, spent their winters in Florida and summers in Ohio. In Ohio, he played golf with his buddies and enjoyed metal detecting and fishing in Florida.

Family was important; he attended many family gatherings and his grandchildren's activities.

In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his brother, Duane Hamilton, and sister-in-law Darlene Brouwer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathie, his two children, Mindy (Matt) Russell, and Michael (Ximena Reinoso) Hamilton, grandchildren Hannah, Heather, Jake, and Addison, sister-in-law Gayle Hamilton, and brother-in-law Frans Brouwer.

The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic, especially their hospice staff Taunia and Kelly, for their exceptional care of Michael.

Visitation will be held at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd NE, Massillon, OH on September 4, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A private burial will take place at St. Clements Cemetery in Navarre, OH.
