Mary “Scoot” Nell Thompson, 91, of Canton, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023 from a long term illness. She was born on September 01, 1931 to Ernest & Bessie Grider in Opp, Alabama. Mary graduated from McKinley High School in Canton, OH.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ester and John Grider; sister Anna Tramell and nephews, LeRoy and Frankie Grider.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Willie Frank Thompson; two brothers-in-law, Elisha Thompson of Canton and James T. Thompson of Coalin, Alabama; three sisters-in-law Evelyn Byrd, Merdis Bray and O’Geara Thompson of Canton, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 11-12, at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral services start at 12 noon. Entombment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. messages of sympathy and support can be left at www.paquelet.com
