Maria Verginis

October 28, 1940 — March 16, 2023

Maria Verginis, 82 went home to the Lord on March 16, 2023. Maria was born on October 28, 1940, in Corinth, Greece, the daughter of the late Dimitri and Maria (Skiada) Granitsas. She loved cooking for her grandchildren and attending their events. She loved her family, her Greek heritage and culture, and her Orthodox faith.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dimitra and her husband of 53 years, Eleftherios.

She is survived by her sons, Fr. Yanni (Mindy), Dimitrios (Angelina), and Theologos (Trena); grandchildren, Maria K., Gabriela, Alexia, Katerina, Eleftherios, Maria E., Alexandra, Nikolaos, Evangelos, and Maria A.; and numerous family members in Greece.

The family will receive friends at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon on Sunday from 6-8 pm, with a Trisagion service at 7 pm, and on Monday from 10-11 am. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 11 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George GOC.
