Linda J. Ries

Linda J. Ries, 84, of Carrollton, passed away on December 27, 2025 at Carroll Health Care.

She was born on September 22, 1941 to the late Raymond and Greeba (Shonk) Dietz in Massillon, OH.

She was a graduate of Washington High School. In 1976, Linda and others founded the Carroll - Stark, Tuscarawas County Chapter of Compassionate Friends, a bereavement group for families that have lost a child. She served as the Chapter Leader for 30 years and produced the newsletter during that time. Linda and her husband Roy owned Cedar Outdoor Furniture. She was a member of Stark County Home Builders Association. She was dedicated to her family and friends and was a big Elvis fan.

Linda is survived by her loving children, Daniel R. Ries and Christine Ries; grandchildren, Lauren (Chris) Conrad and Max Romick; great-grandchildren, Will, Wes, and Owen; siblings, Richard Dietz, Mary (Jack) Lee, John (Camila) Dietz, Margie Sciortino, Joan (Lloyd) Miller, and Jan Armstrong; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy H. Ries; and son, Jimmy Ries.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2026, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm at Paquelet & Arnold -Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon, OH, with a funeral service to start at 12:30 pm in the funeral home, with Bill Newell, officiating.

Interment will be in Brookfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Friends, 1167 Lennox Ave NE, Massillon, OH, 44646.
