Lee T. Cecil, 82, of Massillon, passed away April 8, 2026.
Lee was born on March 2, 1944, in Massillon, OH to the late Elden and Catherine Cecil. He was a 1964 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. Soon after achieving his diploma, Lee went on to work for Republic Steel (of Massillon), where he retired after 50+ years as a Material Handler. Lee married the love of his life, the late Katherine L. Cecil, on February 28, 1970, and were married for 54 years before her passing. Lee loved to fish, especially at Guilford Lake, which is where he and his family spent many summers. Lee especially loved moments spent with his granddaughter, Ryley, at the stables, where he enjoyed watching her take horse riding lessons, on the pony he bought for her. Lee was a very helpful and generous soul; he was known for always being the first to help someone in need. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lee is survived by his daughters Nicole Cecil, Sandra Cecil, and Stacy (Michael) Geitgey; his loving granddaughter, Ryley Cecil, who was his pride and joy; sister-in-law, Eleanor Cecil; brother-in-law, Ronald Fenningsdorf, brother and sister-in-law, R. Dean and Deborah Sponseller, and various nieces and nephews.
In addition to Lee’s parents and his late wife, Kathy, he is also preceded in death by his, brother, Elden Cecil and numerous other in-laws from the Sponseller family.
Per Lee’s request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 20th, 2026, 7: 00 PM, at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd., Massillon, OH 44646. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Lawrence Fire Department.
