Latoria Michelle Buchanan, a cherished member of her community and beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. Born on February 16, 1981, Latoria lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for those closest to her.

A proud graduate of Washington High School, Latoria’s life was a testament to the values instilled in her during her formative years. She embraced every opportunity to nurture and strengthen the bonds with her loved ones, always placing the needs and happiness of her family and friends at the forefront of her priorities. Those who had the privilege of knowing her remember her strength, kindness, and the warmth she brought into every room.

Latoria’s heart belonged to her children, who were the center of her world. She is survived by her son, Dajour Buchanan; daughters, Tavyiona Buchanan, Haley Buchanan, and Jada Buchanan; and sons, Ali Buchanan and Jordan Buchanan. Her devoted offspring carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Among her cherished family also stands her grandson, Messiah Wallace, who was a source of immeasurable joy to her.

Beyond her immediate family, Latoria was supported and loved by her siblings: sisters Tyra Hankison and Latasha Buchanan, as well as brothers Lamont Buchanan and Lamar Buchanan. Her extended circle of love and friendship included her special son, Jayron Parker, her special sister, Deanna Rolland, and her special cousin Marilyn Daniels “Pookie”. Latoria’s best friend, Phenicia Thomas, was a constant companion through life’s many chapters, providing mutual support and deep understanding.

Latoria’s journey was shaped by the memories of those who preceded her in death and whom she held dearly in her heart. She is mourned alongside the loss of her father, Havey “Harvey” Buchanan, her brother, Havey “Harvey” Buchanan, her special sister, Shirley Smith, and her special parents, Alma and Robert Smedley, whose guiding spirits remained with her throughout her life.

Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends, yet her spirit endures in the memories she created and the legacy of love she fostered. Latoria Michelle Buchanan will be remembered for her unwavering devotion, her nurturing soul, and the gentle strength with which she faced life's challenges.

To know Latoria was to witness a life lived fully, with grace and compassion. As her family and friends gather to honor her memory, they celebrate a woman who loved deeply and left an indelible imprint on all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
