Joyce Elaine Messaris

Joyce Elaine Messaris, 78, of Massillon, passed away on July 2, 2026 at The Inn at University Village.

She was born on July 24, 1947 to the late William and Margaret (Toth) Gannon in Massillon, OH.

She was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1965 and attended Kent State University. She retired from Doctors Hospital in 2008. Joyce was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Massillon Woman's Club, and The Massillon Eagles. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Joyce is survived by her loving daughters, Kelly (Sean) Carpenter and Lisa (Matt) Esberger; and granddaughter, Sydney Esberger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David "Buffalo" Messaris in 2021; and a brother, Jim Gannon.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 6:00pm - 8:00 pm at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Travis Seagraves on Monday, July 13, 2026, 11:00 am at the Divine Mercy Parish St. Mary's Catholic Church, Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
