Jonnie J. Herring

Jonnie Herring, 79, of Massillon, passed away on September 10, 2026.

She was born on September 2, 1947 to the late John and Leslie (Craig) McClelland in Asheville, NC.

Jonnie graduated from Southwestern High School, Detroit MI. She worked for General Motors, GE Capital and retired from Stark County Community Action Agency. Through her work with Community Action, she was able to reach and touch many lives. Jonnie was a member of St. James AME Zion Church. She was an exceptional gardener, and very skilled seamstress. She also enjoyed refurbishing antiques and going to sales to look for treasures. Jonnie was a dedicated mother to her children and their closest friends.

Jonnie is survived by her loving children, Duane (Daisha) Herring, Darnell (Arleen Moore) Herring, and Douglass Herring; grandchildren, Duane Herring, Jr. and Christina (Josh) Archie; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Williams; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Randy McClelland.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, 9:30 am to 10:30am at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio, with a Home Going Celebration starting at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Massillon, Ohio

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.
