Johnie Lewis, a devoted family man and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. Born on August 11, 1939, Johnie lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
Johnie earned his high school diploma from Sandy Valley High School in 1957, an achievement that laid the foundation for a life of hard work and commitment. His sense of duty extended beyond civilian life as he bravely served in the United States Marine Corps, honoring his country with steadfast loyalty.
A pillar of his community in Ohio, Johnie’s presence was felt by many. His family was at the heart of his life, and he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Geneva Lewis; his daughter Toni Lewis; his son Ricky Lewis; along with grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Johnie was preceded in death by his father Robert Lewis Jr.; mother Icie Pearl “Sis” Lewis; brother James “Jimmy” Lewis; sisters Gladys “Hat” Turner, Icie “Julie” Snell, and Gloria (Jean) Dave; brother Wendell Eugene Lewis; daughter Lori Lewis-Walker; and grandson Tre' Devon Lewis. Their memory lives on in the hearts of the family and all who remember Johnie's joyful spirit and unwavering support.
Johnie Lewis’s spirit—marked by dedication to family, community, and country—will be remembered with profound respect and admiration. His legacy endures through those who loved him and the lasting impact he made in their lives.
Visitation will be held at Paquelet & Arnold- Lynch Funeral Home, located at 1100 wales Rd NE in Massillon Ohio on April 27th, 2026, from 10 AM to 12 PM. The funeral service will immediately follow. Graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2698 Broadway Avenue Northeast, Louisville, Ohio.
