Those who knew John's humble nature and ever-present sense of humor, well appreciated his final request for a brief, to-the-point obituary: "Just say, 'John Bolek is dead.'"
Out of great love for John however, his family would respectfully like to add the following details:
John Bolek, 80, of North Canton, passed away on February 27, 2025 at Aultman Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born on April 20, 1944 to Louis and Mary (Selko) Bolek in Canton, OH.
A 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School, he was a veteran of The United States Navy. He retired from Ohio Bell in 1999. John was a member of Dayspring Christian Fellowship. He was dedicated to his family and church, where he enjoyed getting together with the Empty Nester Group.
John is survived by his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Jennifer (Ryan) Prosser; granddaughter, Penny Prosser; brother, Robert (Sandy) Bolek; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his lifelong best friend, Matthew Gawlak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Aaron James Bolek; step-mother, Geraldine Bolek; siblings, Frank Bolek, William Bolek, and Walter Bolek and step-sister, Bonnie Ronske.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, 10:00 am - 11:30 am at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon, with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 am, with Pastor Jim Bartholomew, officiating.
Internment will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Leukemia Research Foundation.
