Jean Mummertz, 91, transitioned to be with the Lord on January 25, 2026. Born on November 2, 1934 in Massillon, Ohio, she lived a life rooted in faith, family, friendship, and service to others.
Jean is proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Leo. She is survived by her son Doug, daughter Leslie (David), and three wonderful and special grandsons Ben, Dan (Ruthie), and Matt (Noelle).
A 1953 graduate of Washington High School, Jean studied education at Ohio University and the University of Akron. She loved being an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. After retiring in 1992, she devoted her passion and energy to many local organizations including the Massillon Woman’s Club, the Massillon Museum, and Community Hospice. Central Presbyterian Church was an important part of Jean’s life where she was a deacon, volunteered for the food pantry, and formed lifelong friendships.

A Celebration of Life service will follow promptly at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church (massilloncpc.org) or the Massillon Woman’s Club (massillonwc.com).
Jean was known for her constant smile and warm heart. In her own words, always “fill your heart with lots of love and kindness”. In lieu of flowers, please do one act of kindness each day to honor Jean’s memory. We can all make this world a better place.
