Janet Marie Whitfield

Janet Whitfield, a lifelong resident of Massillon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on June 8, 1948, Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was centered around love, family, and caring for others. She will be remembered for her warm heart, nurturing spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone she encountered.

Janet dedicated many years to caring for children, a passion that truly defined her. She worked as a teacher at Little Sprouts Childcare and Head Start, and also ran her own in-home childcare for over 10 years. She had a special love for children and made a lasting impact on the many families she served.

Outside of her work, Janet enjoyed country music, collecting country antiques, and cooking meals that brought her family together. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie (Stephens) White and Curtis White Jr., as well as her sister, Lola White.

Janet is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, David A. Whitfield Sr.; her sons, David A. Whitfield (Charmaine) and Damon Whitfield; and her cherished grandson, Marcus Whitfield. She is also survived by her siblings, Regan (William) Smith, Andrea (Vincent) Turner, Curtis B. White, and Paul (Marylou) White, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will deeply miss her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd NE, Massillon, Ohio. Calling hours will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
