Janet Urban

Janet Urban (Goff), 81, went home to be with the Lord September 3rd, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Janet was born March 26th, 1945, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Dewey and Ruth Goff Fry. Janet and Neil met at church and created a beautiful life together.

Janet was an active member of Canton Baptist Temple volunteering in the church nursery, Camp CHOF and the quilting ministry. She found great joy in caring for others and using her gifts to bless those around her. If Janet wasn’t caring for her family, you could find her quilting, sewing or tending to her garden.

Above all else, Janet cherished being a grandmother. Whether it was hosting Christmas Eve yearly or a water gun fight on the 4th of July, she loved creating special memories with her grandchildren. As she would always say, “being a mother is great, but being a grandmother is even better.”

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Frank (Neil) Urban, her children, Laura (Steve) Funk, Barbara Burleson and Scott (Deborah) Urban, her brother, David (Pamela) Goff, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey Goff and Ruth Goff Fry, her brothers, Paul Goff, Richard (Bud) Goff and Larry Goff.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 9th at Canton Baptist Temple in the Henniger Ministry Center. Calling hours will begin at 11:00 am followed by the service at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Janet’s memory to the Canton Baptist Temple Nursery, Quilting Ministry or Camp CHOF.
