James Monroe Parsons, 60, of Canton, entered Heaven while at home on May 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends. He courageously fought a hard two year battle with cancer, in the midst of his pain he always recited Phil 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
He was born on August 15, 1965 in Kansas City, Kansas, raised in Arizona and Colorado, moving to Canton in 1992 to work for The Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway retiring in 2025.
James was the creator of light weight brake sticks and launched The Ultra Light Railway Brake Stick Company, which revolutionized the railroad industry throughout the USA and Canada. He also developed a "lazer gager" that could measure the exact distance between rails for inspection and maintenance of railroad tracks. This technology is currently used throughout the USA.
James was very gifted, innovative, and always embracing new creative ideas. He had a passion for cooking, stained glass artworks, golf, and fast German cars.
A man of character, James was always helping others. A true extension of God's Love. Even though he was going through a serious life battle, he always offered a smile and made people feel welcomed and accepted.
James legacy will be the compassion, kindness, and generosity he showed to the many people that came into his life.
James is survived by his loving wife, Becky (Ammon) Parsons, with whom he celebrated 29 years of marriage on February 14, 2026; father, Larry R. Parsons; brother, Larry R. Parsons, Jr., nephew, Jackson James Parsons, who brought great joy to James; step-dad, Bill Simpson; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Marie Ammon; brother-in law Brian Ammon; step-mom, Phyllis Parsons; sister, Kristin Parsons; brother, David Parsons; and all his babies, Roxy, Mya, Miss Beans, Evie, and Chopper.
