Listen to Obituary

James “Jim” Marino, beloved husband, father, Grampy Bear, brother, uncle, and friend, met his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1956, to the late Joe and Ruth (Borter) Marino, whose love and guidance followed him throughout his lifetime. He was a 1976 graduate of Lincoln High School, before becoming a licensed auctioneer in 1977. Later he received his real estate license and was employed by Whipple Auction & Realty, the family-owned business. He also worked at Akron Auto Auction for many years. He truly enjoyed his auction career serving the community with his father and brothers selling real estate, farm equipment, and different chattels, including coins, jewelry, and automobiles.

Jim was a member of Canton Baptist Temple and had a special place in his heart for Camp CHOF, where he accepted Christ in 1979.

Met with a crossroad in life, Jim expressed a lifetime dream to his wife, Lisa, and together they began 12th St. Auto Sales, where he dedicated many years to helping folks find their perfect vehicle. His honesty and integrity were evident in every sale he made.

Outside of work and church, Jim enjoyed fishing, baking, and adding to his Maytag and train collections. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his family and loved them dearly. His heart belonged to his wife, Lisa, as they shared 42 happy years of marriage. Together they weathered life’s joys and challenges, building a close-knit family that reflected his gentle guidance and loving spirit. Jim’s legacy flourishes in his children, James T Marino II, Elisabeth (Andy) Richardson, and Hannah (Raymond) Strain. He deeply cherished his relationship with his grandchildren, Mausley, Raegan, and Oakley Richardson.

Jim’s life was a testament of steadfast faith, happiness, and enduring love and commitment to his family and friends. Jim will be remembered for his love of life, his wisdom, and his ornery smile that accompanied every story he told.

Services to honor Jim’s life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Canton Baptist Temple, located at 515 Whipple Ave. NW Canton, OH 44708 in the Henniger Ministry Center (enter Door S). Calling hours are 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow.
