Gloria E. Montero Nieves, 80, of Navarre, passed away on March 26, 2026 at Cleveland Clinic / Mercy Hospital.

She was born on February 15, 1946 to the late Casimiro and Josefa (Prieto) Nieves in Manati, Puerto Rico and was raised in the Bronx, NY.

Gloria graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1964. She returned to Puerto Rico which she called "The Beautiful Island of Puerto Rico". She worked for Bow factory in town. After some economic hardship the family moved to St. Croix, U.S.VI and after a year moved to Florida for most of her adult life.

She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Florida for many years, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir and also served as a deaconess in Carol City, Hollywood and Clermont. After retiring from Aran Eye Associates, she moved to the Massillon area to be close to family. Gloria enjoyed going to church, working on puzzles, watching movies, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her two favorite holidays.

Gloria is survived by her loving children, Nancy (Kennan) McGrath and Rangel (Nicole) Montero; grandchildren, Christina (Addison Shipley) Culverson, Christian Culverson, Marco Montero, and Gabriel Montero; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Anibal Nieves, Uvilda Rodriguez, and Manuel Nieves.
