Gerald D. Faubel

Gerald "Jerry" Dale Faubel, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. Born on June 2, 1953, in Norfolk, Nebraska, Jerry was the beloved son of George and Irene (Lehman) Faubel.

Jerry graduated from Norfolk High School in 1971 and attended Chadron State College before earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

Jerry began his career with Harvestgro Irrigation Systems, Inc., installing center pivot irrigation systems in the Norfolk and surrounding areas. On June 1, 1979, he joined Goodyear’s Engineered Products Division, beginning a dedicated 42-year career with the company. He hired in as a mill operator and grew into leadership as an SPC Section Manager at the Goodyear-Norfolk Hose Plant. Jerry’s talent led to successive promotions and relocations, serving as an OE Customer Engineer in Logan, Ohio; a regional quality engineer in Akron, Ohio; a production area manager in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; and a Quality Leader in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. He also brought his expertise as a Quality Engineer to facilities in Southfield, Michigan, Topeka, Kansas, and back to Akron, Ohio before ultimately retiring from Goodyear’s Tire Division in 2021. Throughout his decades of service, Jerry was known for his leadership and the lifelong friendships he maintained across North America and other regions of the world.

It was during his time in Logan, Ohio, that Jerry met the love of his life, Dianna (née Droz Jubell). The two were wed July 13, 1990 and shared a beautiful life together filled with love, family and adventure.

A man of deep faith, Jerry was a member of the United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Commerce United Methodist Church during his years in Michigan and most recently attended the Cross Point United Methodist Church in Jackson Township, Massillon, Ohio.

Jerry was a passionate sports fan who enthusiastically cheered for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, famously celebrating when his beloved Huskers won the 1994 National Championship at the Orange Bowl. He had a deep love for animals, adored his dogs—a miniature schnauzer named Buddy and a shih tzu named Igor—and found great joy in caring for and naming his outdoor cats albeit too many. Above all, Jerry’s greatest joy was his family. He deeply loved his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, and cherished every moment spent with them. Jerry worked incredibly hard, and his passion for life was contagious. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always available to share a laugh with. He raised his children to be driven, as his father George raised him. His commitment to life was always at maximum effort.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Faubel; his daughter, Melainie Elaine Faubel; and his grandson, Mason Gerald Faubel.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Dianna Faubel; aunt Ruby Schulz, many cousins, brother Clayton of Sheridan, WY, sisters Georgia (Colby) Gillespie of Crow Heart, WY, Janet (Bob) Westerman of Lincoln, NE, and Dawn Cawkins of Norfolk, NE, many nieces and nephews, his children, Jeremy (Mary) Faubel of Fairplay, MO, Zachary (Cindy) Faubel of Tripoli, IA, Kylie (Brandon) Marksmeier of Norfolk, NE, Jessica (Adam) Wagner of Edgerton, WI, and Richard Jubell of Massillon, OH; his grandchildren, Haylie (Brannon) Kennedy, Dillon Faubel, Emily Faubel, Carter Faubel, Taite (Savannah) Marksmeier, Abbie Marksmeier, Jayce Marksmeier, Caylee Marksmeier, Ava Wagner, Jamie Wagner, and Amelia Wagner; and his great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Kennedy.

All are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646 in addition to the funeral service being held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Crosspoint United Methodist Church, 9687 Portage St NW, Massillon, Ohio 44646.
