Gary L. Boone

Gary Lee Boone, 74, of Perry Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025. Gary was born on February 6, 1951, to the late Harold and Verelene (Helmick) Boone. A lifelong resident of the Massillon area, he was a proud graduate of Massillon Washington High School. Gary was a member of the American Legion Post 44 and retired from Akron Gear. He also served as a member and trustee of Trinity Methodist Church of Perry Heights. Gary loved playing guitar and found great joy in music. Above all, he cherished his role as “Grandpa” and took immense pride in his grandchildren’s achievements. 

Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy (Harris) Boone. He is survived by his children, Angela (Tom) Eckenrod, Kevin (Angie) Boone, and Michael (Audra) Boone; his beloved grandchildren, Dylan (Tina), Tyler (Hannah), Jocelyn (Aidan), Makenna, Madison, and Hannah; and his brother, William (Jaquie) Boone. He also leaves behind his cherished friend, Sandy Shilling.

The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at the Cleveland Clinic for their care and comfort. A service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 5pm at Trinity United Methodist Church- 3757 Lincoln Way E, Massillon, OH 44646. Friends may call one hour before the service.
