Frederick G. Monsell

Frederick G. Monsell, “Rick”, 80, of Jackson Township, passed away on August 21, 2026.

Rick was born in Plainfield, NJ on August 11, 1946, to the late Frederick and Thelma (Herring) Monsell. He was a 1964 graduate of Mamaroneck High School. Following high school, Rick graduated from the University of Akron, where he met the first love of his life, Sue E. Monsell. They were married on April 26, 1966, and shared 54 loving years together.

Rick lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Rick is survived by his wife Schyler LaMattina; daughter Lynn (Todd) Kotler; grandchildren Lauren Fairchild (Hunter) and Lucas Kotler; great grandson, Gideon, who was the apple of Rick’s eye; nieces Jamie (Kyle) Hillegass and Kristen (Drew) Monsell; and great-niece Addison Hillegass.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sue E. (Bailey) Monsell, who passed away August 31, 2020; and brother Paul Monsell.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12 PM - 2 PM, at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd. NE, Massillon OH, where a service will follow at 2 PM, and will be live-streamed for those that cannot attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson Township Lions Club.
