Franklin L. Lowden Sr., 87, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away February 3, 2026. He was born on July 21, 1938 in Akron, Ohio to the late Keith and Emma (Groves) Lowden.

Franklin was an avid Ohio State and Denver Broncos fan. He lived in the Santo Cristo Mountains in Colorado for over 20 years. He enjoyed traveling, and going to the casino where he often had luck on his side. Franklin also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Mojo.

In addition to his parents, Franklin is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Joyce (Simonton) Lowden; siblings, Donna Mae, Calvin, Harold, Maryann, Maxine, and Ola.

Franklin is survived by his children, Rebecca Lowden, Frank (Cindy) Lowden, Mary Beth (David) Horvatich, Cheryl (Edward) Hetrick, and Keith Lowden; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Tony Pasquale, Bridgette Umble, Todd and Jenn Beggs, and Gary Tait for their friendship, compassion, and care for Franklin in the time he spent in Colorado.

The family would also like to thank Aultman Hospital, Aultman Urology, Aultman Deuble Heart and Vascular Consultants, Aultman Hemotology and Oncology, Intrim Home Health, and Ohio Hospice Pallative Care for the time they spent with Franklin ensuring his needs were met, and that he was comfortable.

Cremation has taken place, and Franklin will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery with military honors, in Denver, Colorado.
