Evelyn M. Hartwick - Finley

Evelyn M. Hartwick - Finley, 93 of Perry Township, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her daughter's home, Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Canton Baptist Temple where she enjoyed and participated in many activities. She was a member of the Jolly Sixties, the Red Hat Society and volunteered and dedicated many hours to the needs of others. She was a member of several camping clubs and spent her winters as a snowbird in Florida. She loved camping and traveling, having visited all 50 states and spending several weeks in Jerusalem, The Holy Land in 1999. She was a talented seamstress and knitter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary (Rawson) Marker, her infant daughter, first husband of 40 years, Harry Hartwick, second husband of 8 years, Howard Finley, daughter, Nancy (Hartwick) Butler, son David Hartwick, daughter-in-law, Sue Hartwick, son-in-law Thomas Basham. Evelyn will forever be remembered as a woman of truth, honesty, compassion, faith, and integrity. She was a pillar of strength, a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and aunt. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Diane L. (Kirk Oberlin) Basham and Darlene (Sam) Crawford; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth; several nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver Tiffany Oliver. A Celebration of Evelyn's life will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Private burial will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Aultman Hospice or The Canton Baptist Temple – Camp CHOF Ministries.
