Ernest G. Mick, born on October 1, 1957, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026. His life was a testament to dedication, honor, and a one-of-a-kind spirit that left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ernest’s early years were shaped by his formative education at Washington High School, where he developed the foundations of lifelong friendships and a commitment to service. Following his graduation, Ernest answered a higher call and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as a Sonar Technician. Throughout his military career, Ernest demonstrated steadfast commitment to his duties, earning the respect of his peers and superiors alike. His time in the Navy was characterized by discipline, loyalty, and an unwavering sense of purpose—qualities that defined him both in and out of uniform. After many years of distinguished service, Ernest retired from the Navy, carrying with him memories of camaraderie and achievement.

All who knew Ernest fondly recall his distinctive, unique sense of humor. With a wit that could lighten the heaviest day, he had an uncanny ability to bring laughter into the lives of those around him. Ernest could regularly be found at the Massillon Tigers games, rooting on his favorite team. His humor was matched only by his kindness and genuine care for others.

Ernest is survived by his loving sisters, Betty Kovatch, Linda Massie, and Janey Gehring, as well as his brothers, Roy Mick and John Mick. Their lives have been forever enriched by Ernest’s warmth and generous spirit. Ernest also leaves behind some special friends and neighbors, including Charles Wheatley. He is also survived by his four cats, Itchy, Scratchy, Boo Boo, and Joel

He now joins those who have gone before him; his spouse Jamie Rosen; his brother Jim Mick, sister Peggy Sue Mick, mother Nellie Mick, father Eulis Robert Mick, brothers-in-law James Kovatch and Darrell Massie, and sister-in-law Lori Mick. Their memories together remain cherished by all who survive.

Ernest’s legacy is one of service, laughter, and steadfast loyalty. Qualities that will endure in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the mark Ernest G. Mick left upon this world is lasting and profound.

The family will announce a gathering to honor Ernest's memory at a later date.
