Eleanor A. "Nellie" Evans

Eleanor A. "Nellie" Evans, of Massillon, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025 at Aultman Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 99.

Nellie was born on November 16, 1925 to the late Yordon and Velika (Dimitroff) Angeloff in Byala, Bulgaria, and immigrated with her family to Canada, where she met and married George Evans, on October 12, 1947, before moving to The United States. She retired from the Canton City Schools after 29 years of service.

Nellie was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. She was active with the church choir, bingo, catering, Serbian Sisters and anything she could do that would be helpful to the church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always supportive of the kids activities.

She enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, and sewing. Nellie was a huge Massillon Tiger fan, having just attended the Beat McKinley Rally!

Nellie is survived by her loving children, George (Roberta) Evans, John (Jackie) Evans, and Vicki (Doug) Becherucci; eight grandchildren, Christy (David) Moyer, Christian (Andrea McGovern) Evans, John (Katherine) Evans, Nick (Kelsey) Evans, Lindsay (Ben) Moretta, Meghan (Ryan Hendershot) Perry, Max (Leah) Shaffer, and Adrienne Roellgen; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and siblings, Sophia Forfar and Gordon Angeloff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George Evans.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 3, 2025, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 4667 Applegrove St. NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720, with Funeral Liturgy starting at 11:00 am at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church with The Very Rev. Fr. Aleksa Pavichevich, officiating. Final resting place will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
