Duane "Dewey" F. Leininger, 76, of Massillon, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. He was born in Massillon on January 15, 1949.
Dewey was a 1967 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. He was a 2005 enshrinee of the Greater Canton Slo-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. Dewey was a member of The Sons of Herman, Massillon AMVETS #12, and The Massillon Eagles #190.
Dewey loved to stay active, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, darts, pool, horseshoes, and being outdoors. He was a lifetime fan of the Massillon Tigers, as well as the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Most of all, Dewey loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Rita (Jack) Graham and his father, Donald Leininger.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Debi (Gaut) Leininger; children, Lynn Ann Galloway, Duane F. (Melissa) Leininger Jr., Kelly (Samuel) Randall, and Ashley (Aaron) Lowery; grandchildren, Adam Clark, Ryan Leininger, Haley Leininger, Serena Schueller, and Sawyer Lowery; 2 great-grandchildren; and sisters Dr. Jacquelyn Graham (Eric Grossman), Gena (Mark) Ramsey, and Patricia Bentley.
The family would like to thank Traditions Health Palliative Care and Hospice of Akron for their compassionate care of Dewey.
At this time, no services will be held. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
