Douglas Stephen Pledgure, 79 of Massillon, went home to be with the lord on October 25, 2025.
He was born on July 12, 1946, in Massillon to the late William and Lelia (Bell) Pledgure. He graduated from Washington high school in 1966. After graduation he joined the military where he proudly served in the Army where he completed two tours in Vietnam. After the military Doug returned home where he was employed at Republic Steel and from where he retired after 50 plus years.
Doug was a dedicated Massillon Tiger fan. He loved to teach and play chess all while giving you valuable life lessons. He was dedicated to his entire family including those who were not biologically so. He was a phenomenal father, provider, and an all-round family man. Dougals loved a good joke and he had the most contagious laugh.
Doug was proceeded in death by his loving wife Angela Pledgure and by four brothers, Richard Bell, William, Melvin, and Marvin Pledgure, a sister Gayle Young. He is survived by his children Makea Pledgure, Shireen Joyner, Tyce Pledgure, Fanta Pledgure and Jessica Pledgure and sisters Arabella Moore, Judy Phillips, Mylinda Fisher, as well as his rekindled love Momma Sharlene. His grandchildren Nahja, Yessine, Camren, Benjamin, Donavon, Kyre, Angela, and Hayden. Great grandchildren Sa’Hari and Yessine ll.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday November 1, 2025, at Paquelet Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm, with Pastor Gaylin Johnson officiating. Burial and military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
