Donna Jean (Smith) Grim, 80, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away into eternal peace on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
She was born on March 8, l946, in Canton, Ohio, to John and Donna Smith of Caldwell, Ohio. Donna graduated from Caldwell High School in 1964 and later retired in 2003 from theState of Ohio (Indian River School). There, she started by working midnights as a switchboard operator where her hard work, dependability, and genuine care for others eventually led to her role in Human Resources where she was well-loved by many colleagues who soon became longtime friends.
Donna was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing bingo, spending time at the casino with friends, and listening to Neil Diamond. She made anyone who visited her home feel instantly welcome, often offering them a seat at the dinner table, her pies and delicious homecooked meals were beloved by generations of friends and family who knew her as generous, kindhearted, and strong. She was an exceptional listener and caretaker and had a disarming quick sense of humor.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Michael Grim, who often liked to say they were "blissfully" married, a sentiment evident to all who knew them. She is also survived by her children: Michelle Campbell, John (Angela) Grim, and Melissa Ewing, her brother Lloyd (Carolyn) Smith, her sister Dr. Ruth Ann (Randy) Cooper, and her sister-in-law Joanne Myers (Scott Reeder).
She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Bryan, Nick (Xavier), and Jacob Campbell, Sarah (Race) and Jenna Grim, and Zachary and Aaron Ewing, as well as many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kelly Williams for her helping hands and loving care.
Donna will be remembered for the love, warmth, and joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
