Donald "Rick" Heather

Donald Richard Heather, 62, of Canton, Ohio, passed away at his home on July 21, 2026. He was a beloved grandfather, father, son, brother, and friend. His presence will be deeply missed.

Donald was born in Massillon, Ohio, on October 1, 1963. He was a man deeply devoted to his family and his community. As a 1982 graduate of Massillon Washington High School, Donald was a supporter of all things Massillon. Sharing a love for sports with his son, many experienced his love and intentionality, knowing him affectionately as “Coach Rick.” His involvement in the Massillon community showed that his love for others extended far beyond his immediate family, as he often went out of his way to help those in need.

Donald’s faith in Jesus played a central role in his life. He was a regular attender at Rivertree Massillon and often sought to share his faith with those he encountered throughout his day. In his later years, Donald was best known as “Grandpa Rick,” being a favorite family member of his grandson Mateo.

Donald is survived by his mother and step-father, Violet Snyder and Lawrence Snyder; his girlfriend, Jennifer Smith; his brothers, Scott (Necole) Miller and Timothy (Cathi) Snyder; his son Donnie (Jordan) Sanchez; his grandson Mateo; his soon-to-be granddaughter, Rosabel. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Heather; his sister, Kelly Heather.

Calling hours will be held at RiverTree Massillon at 1600 Main Ave W, Massillon, OH 44647 on July 31, 2026, from 9:30 A.M until 11:30 A.M with the funeral service to follow. The family invites all who knew him to attend.
