Donald Gene Chenault, 82, of Canton Ohio went home to be with the Lord on November 10, 2018. He was born May 4, 1936 in Canton to the late Eugene and Alberta (McDonald) Chenault. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years and was involved in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Following his time in the military, Donald was a truck driver for over 20 years for British Petroleum (BP). He was a member of Life Ministries Church in Canton. He enjoyed fishing, but more importantly being a charter captain of his boat, The TopCat. He also liked golfing, tinkering, listening to jazz music and meeting his friends every day at Bob Evans. Most importantly, Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Donald will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Lynell George; son Hershel D. (Wanda) Chenault, and daughter Justine E. Chenault; siblings Judy Chenault, Janet Williams, Marcia Chenault, Ruthellen Chenault, Michael “Peco” Chenault and Marilyn McCleskey; grandchildren Justin “Chase” Williams, Christian Williams, Cherish Chenault and Hershel “Ian” Chenault; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his daughter Wanda Chenault, siblings Betty Chenault and Jesse Chenault and granddaughter Qiana Williams. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon from 5-7 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Life Ministries, 2651 Market Ave N, Canton. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the start of the service. Following the service, full military honors will be rendered at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
