Dianna L. Hug-Meeks

Dianna L. Hug-Meeks, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born July 16, 1945, in Canton, Ohio, Dianna was the daughter of the late Sally Hastings-Carani and Angelo Carani.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah-Margaret Hug; son-in-law, Cody Baldwin; and granddaughter, Kasey Harvey, who held an incredibly special place in her heart.

Being a mother was one of Dianna’s greatest joys in life, and her love extended far beyond her own daughter. She had a remarkable way of opening her heart and her home to Sarah-Margaret’s friends, always looking out for them and making them feel as though they were her own. Many of those friendships have lasted throughout the years, and to this day, they continue to consider Dianna an important part of who they have become.

Her door was always open, her heart was always big enough for one more, and so many people were fortunate enough to experience the unconditional love, acceptance, and care she so freely gave. She leaves behind countless people whose lives were touched by her kindness and love.

Dianna is also survived by her siblings, Sondra Kenny, Tony “Bud” Carani, Ken (Joyce) Carani, and David Carani, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sally Hastings and Angelo Carani; her sister, Darlene Margaret Hastings; and her beloved husband, Dennis Meeks.

While those who loved Dianna grieve an immeasurable loss, there is comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with Dennis, the love of her life. Their love was an important part of Dianna’s story, and the thought of them together again brings comfort to those who remain.

The family would also like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Rose Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation. As a long-term resident, Rose Lane became much more than the place Dianna lived, it became her home, and the people who cared for her became family.

The love, compassion, friendship, laughter, and kindness they gave Dianna throughout the years meant more than words can adequately express. They cared for her as one of their own, and the relationships she formed there were incredibly special to both Dianna and her family. The family will forever be grateful to every person at Rose Lane who loved Dianna, cared for her, made her laugh, and became such an important part of her life.

Dianna’s love for her family was immeasurable, and the impact she made on the lives of those around her will continue long after her passing. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held October 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
