Denzil "Rich" Smith

Denzil “Rich” Smith, 67, of Massillon, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 9, 1958, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Nelson and Genne (Kernel) Smith, Rich was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was passionate about fishing and hunting, enjoyed flea markets and auctions, and was gifted at building or repairing almost anything. Friends and family knew they could always count on him for a helping hand.

In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his three sisters-Rachael, Diane, and Sarah.

Rich is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Krystine; children Erin Smith, Jessica Smith (Cole Ferreira), and Lindsay (Austin) Miller; grandchildren Jasmine, Nelson, Maria, Lilly, Chloe, and Calhan, with a granddaughter eagerly anticipated later this year; siblings Robert Smith, Becky (John) Shafer, Deborah (Scott) Kerr, Jonathan Smith, and Mary Humbert ; mother-in-law Marie Busch; brothers-in-law Jeff (Susan) Busch, Terry (Lisa) Busch, Steve Busch, and Andy (Susan) Busch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Garden.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Rich’s memory by visiting a flea market, going fishing, or enjoying a very hot cup of coffee.

The family offers heartfelt thanks to the relatives and friends who supported Rich in recent years-especially those who took him fishing, helped around the house, or stopped by for a visit.

He will be deeply missed and remembered, always.
