Delores “Dolly” Jean {Giachetti} Garlow, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025 where she resided, at The Inn at University Village in Massillon.
She was born on June 10, 1938, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and always enjoyed returning to visit family and friends in her hometown. While relocating often as part of a military lifestyle, she found joy in forming lasting friendships over the years. One of the most memorable of these postings was in Okinawa, Japan, where she and her young family experienced a new culture and way of life.
She eventually settled in Massillon, Ohio, where she raised her children and built a close circle of friends. While life brought its challenges, she found deep meaning in her work and, later, through the joy of being a grandmother.
Dolly dedicated many years to caring for children- first at a local daycare center and later through her role at the Department of Jobs and Family Services. She took great pride in helping others and found fulfillment in the relationships she built through her work.
In her later years, she became a devoted and loving grandmother, and those moments brought out the best in her. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and brought her joy, purpose, and peace.
Among her favorite pastimes were dining out with “the 4 D’s”-Dolly, Denise, Deb, and Darla- and going shopping with her four granddaughters, moments she truly cherished.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Clark); her son, Mark (Denise); her beloved grandchildren, Madison, Mallorie, Courtlyn (Dan), and Callan; a great grandson, and cherished nieces, Kim and Deb. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Kitty and Bev.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at The Inn at University Village and Crossroads Hospice for their kindness and support.
