Together Again

Darlene Shirley (Hykes) Hahlen, 83, formerly of East Canton, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. Born on March 14, 1942, Darlene was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Freda Hykes, brother Daniel P. Hykes, and husband of 56 years, Richard Lee Hahlen. Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her grandson, Matthew Hahlen, and granddaughter Megan Hahlen, both of Cuyahoga Falls. Son Scott (Kimberly) Hahlen, of Cuyahoga Falls.

Darlene was born to shop and was a true people person. Not only would she know the life history of the person behind her in the check out line, but also the cashier’s family tree. Darlene waitressed at Country Manor Restaurant in Canton and demoed products at Fisher Foods.

Friends may call from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Ohio. Internment will be at Brookfield Cemetery, 11400 Shaefer St. NW, Massillon, Ohio 44647.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Elms of Stow and Hospice of Hudson for their kindness and guidance during Darlene’s transition home.
