It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel "Dan" Spees, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Dan left this world peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 82, after bravely battling an extended illness. Born on February 28, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio, Dan's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. Dan was the beloved son of Howard and Jessie Spees, and though his family tree has seen some branches fall, he is now reunited with his siblings Howard and Lawrence Spees, nieces Tina Spees, Jodi Spees, and Lori Liskey, and great granddaughter Parker Feldpusch.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, carried on by his devoted wife, Karen, with whom he shared a remarkable 60-year marriage. Their union, which began in August 1965, was a testament to enduring love and partnership, blessed with two wonderful children, Kevin (Dawn) Spees and Michelle Spees.

A Massillon Tiger through and through, having been on the 1960-1961 state football championship team. He loved celebrating the community spirit and camaraderie that came with it. Dan was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. His time in the Marines instilled in him values that he carried throughout his life. A man of passion, Dan had a love for motorcycles that spanned many years. As a member of the Leathernecks Nation MC, the Ma Deuce Chapter, the freedom of the open road was a joy he relished. He was often found sharing stories of his rides with family and friends. His professional life was spent with United Parcel Service, where he dedicated 35 years of service, known for his reliability and strong work ethic.

Dan's pride and joy were undoubtedly his family. He was a loving grandfather to Ashley Stout (Mitchell), Amanda & Anthony Hoskinson, Brittany Spees (Josh), and Morgan & Alan Feldpusch. His heart swelled with love and laughter when surrounded by his seven great-grandchildren, whose futures will be brighter. As we bid farewell to Dan, we remember him not for the void his absence creates, but for the warmth and love he infused into every life he touched. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the stories that will continue to be shared across generations.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Dan's memory to SAM’S Center. Rest in peace, Dan. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, and you are loved beyond words.

Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 5th, at 12:15 pm. Procession will leave promptly from Paquelet Funeral Home at 10:45 am, with family and friends encouraged to arrive from 10:00-10:30 am.
