Caroline Genett Steele Johnson Groce

Caroline Genett Steele Johnson Groce, age 82, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 22, 2026, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. She was lovingly attended by her youngest daughter, Angela Denise Ross.

Caroline was born on March 2, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Bennie Louis Steele and Susie Lutibelle Brooks of Massillon, Ohio. Throughout her life, Caroline was known for her warmth, strength, devotion to family, and vibrant spirit.

Caroline was a graduate of Washington High School and retired from Hoover Company. She was a diehard Massillon Tiger fan.

She loved to travel, go on cruises, bingo, and visiting casino's. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother and loved her grandchildren deeply, especially the younger ones.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her late former husband, Willie Mack Johnson; her beloved son, David; her brothers, Robert and Jesse; her sisters, Mary and Amy; and son-in-law, Timothy Ross.

Caroline is survived by her loving children: Eric (Dr. Somporn "Noi" Ketaroonrat) Johnson, Tammy " Kezia " (Ronnie "Elihu") Perrin, Angela Denise Ross, and Terry (DeCarla Brown) Johnson; her cherished youngest sister, Gloria Jean Steele; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Friendship Baptist Church, Massillon, Ohio with a Home Going Celebration to start at 11:00 am, with Pastor Troy Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
