Bill Hassan Hamit, a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully , after a long hard fight against multiple myeloma, on September 16, 2025, at the age of 83 to the late Hassan and Zera Hamit. Bill was married to his wife Charlotte for 61 wonderful years and was well loved by her and all his family. He graduated from Washington High School in 1959 where he was a well known greaser in the auto mechanics class. Then in 2003, Bill was elected to his final job of a four year term as city auditor for the city of Massillon.
Bill was well known and loved throughout the city by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a strong provider for his family and taught them the importance of kindness, hard work, and respect. Bill loved taking vacations to Myrtle Beach, Disney World, Niagara Falls and especially to The Villages with his wife Charlotte. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, completing puzzles, solving Sudoku, and playing Solitaire. Any person that had an encounter with Bill Hamit can say they left a better person.
