Bessie "Bess" Bennethum

Bessie "Bess" Bennethum, born on January 21, 1939, was a beloved member of her family and community who passed away on February 14, 2026. A lifelong resident of Massillon, Ohio, Bess was known for her unwavering love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Bess graduated from Washington High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with dedication and affection for those around her. Her faith was a central part of her life, as she regularly attended Grace United Church of Christ in Massillon, fostering her spiritual connections and friendships within the congregation.

Bess is survived by her daughter Cathy (John) Mummertz, her beloved granddaughters Talethia Mummertz and Kari Tully, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Kasandra Tully, Chase Mizeres, Malia Mizeres, Karleigh Tully, and Joseph Tully. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she found immense joy in their accomplishments and happiness.

She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ehmer, her father, Howard Furbay, and her mother, Eula Hursh. The love and memories shared with these family members remain cherished in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Bess Bennethum’s warmth, compassion, and dedication to her loved ones will leave a lasting legacy. She will forever be remembered for her kindness and the love she so freely shared.

A memorial visitation will be held on March 22, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM, both taking place at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, located at 1100 Wales Rd NE, Massillon, OH 44646.
