Barbara Jean Edwards, 78, of Massillon, Ohio, passed peacefully on February 24, 2026, embraced by the legacy of a life beautifully lived.
Born in 1948 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, to Marilynn and Wilbur Durnell, Barb later moved to Zanesville, Ohio, where she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, William K. “Bill” Edwards II. They were married in 1968 and shared 45 devoted years together before his passing in 2013. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering love.
Barb and Bill owned The Corner Store in Massillon, Ohio, for over a decade, where they formed lasting friendships and became a cherished part of the community. She was known for her warm smile, generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. A gifted homemaker and creative entrepreneur, Barb enjoyed crafting, decorating, hosting holidays, and filling her home, especially her beloved kitchen with warmth and laughter. Her motto, “Life is too short, eat dessert first,” perfectly reflected her joyful approach to life.
Family was Barb’s greatest pride. She is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” (Denette) Edwards; her daughter, Robin (Darik) Miller; her grandchildren, Caden (Hannah) Miller, Camden Miller, Avery Miller, and Corbin Miller; and her brother-in-law, Doug (Kathy) Edwards, and numerous special nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; and her sister, Judy.
To her children, Barb was a steady source of love, guidance, and encouragement. To her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nanner”, she was a devoted cheerleader, confidante, and constant presence at games, recitals, holidays, and countless treasured traditions. She believed deeply in family, celebrated life’s simple joys, and created memories that will live on for generations.
In recent years, Barb faced Lewy Body Dementia with grace and courage. Though the disease gradually diminished her health, it never diminished her loving heart or her playful spirit.
Now reunited with her beloved Bill, Barb leaves behind a legacy of devotion, hospitality, laughter, and unconditional love. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace, restored and whole, forever holding dessert - and her sweetheart’s hand.
In lieu of flowers, Barb would prefer you take your family out to dinner or a vacation and enjoy them, or you can make a donation to your favorite charity.
