Alyce graduated in 1954 from Washington High School. She loved her job as librarian at L.J. Smith Elementary School in Massillon, where she worked for 30 years. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Canton Calvary Mission, as a poll worker, and for other community events and parent groups for her children.

She was an active member and leader of Epworth United Methodist Church, serving as chairperson of the Council on Ministries , participating in women's ministries, mission projects, organizing church meals and fundraisers, leading groups on bus trips, Sunday School class, mentoring and a role model for younger people in the church, and participating with the Craft Ladies group. She sat in the back pew with her "grandma purse" during worship with grandchildren and great-grandchildren through the years.

She attended sporting events, concerts, plays, swim meets, dance recitals and supported anything her children and grandchildren were involved in. She loved talking to her neighbors and going out to lunch with friends. She enjoyed summers with her family camping at Clay's Park, travelling with Tom and friends, church bus trips, bowling in the church league, and playing cards and games on Friday nights with Tom and friends. She loved pontoon boat rides on Lake Cable and her week each year at Lakeside Chautauqua on Marblehead.
