Alan Wayne Climer, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on July 13, 1952, Alan brought warmth, kindness, and steadfast dedication to all those who knew him throughout his life.
Throughout his life, Alan was known for the love of his family and his dog Bella.
Alan worked for the Massillon Police Department for 13 years where he was the first DARE officer of the city. He also served as the Safety Service Director of Massillon for 13 years. In his retirement, he worked part time for AAA Driving School for many years.
A proud patriot, Alan served his country in the Air Force for 4 years, demonstrating the same dedication and integrity that would later become the hallmark of his everyday life. His sense of duty, respect, and commitment shone through not only in his service, but also in the way he cared for his loved ones.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kelly Climer; children, son, Michael (Lauren) Climer, daughter, Caitlyn Climer, son, Christian (Jessica) Climer; siblings, brother, Steve Alexander, sister, Vickie Climer, sister, Pamela Mackell, brother, Danny Climer, brother, David Climer.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Climer and Paula LaFerriere; he is also preceded by his son, Anthony Climer. Their legacy of love and integrity lived on through Alan’s actions and character.
Alan’s presence will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him, but his memory will endure as a shining example of love, duty, and kindness. His life, marked by quiet strength and unwavering support for those around him, leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations.
