Agnes Marie Krasyk Childress, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, surrounded by love at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Zin and Jack Devine, in Massillon, Ohio. Born on January 18, 1933 in Charleston, West Virginia, to Mary and Frank Krasyk.
In the Kanawha Valley, Agnes was celebrated for her exquisite singing voice, which resonated through the halls of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church during Masses and graced countless weddings with its heartfelt beauty. Her talent was a gift that touched hearts and created lasting memories for her community.
Agnes was preceded in death by her beloved parents and siblings: Margaret, Frank, Francis, Felix, and Conrad; as well as her first husband, Bill Childress, and her second husband, Paul Hamilton.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her cherished children: Bill Childress, Mary Yeater (Pat), Tom Childress (Dawn), Zin Devine (Jack), and Susan Childress. Agnes was deeply blessed with 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews who held her dear. She often reminisced with fondness about her lifelong childhood friend, Gail Whittaker Alvin, sharing stories of their joyful early years that brought light to her days.
Agnes was laid to rest beside her husband, Paul, in the serene grounds of Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at Southern Care Hospice for their unwavering support and guidance during this tender time. A special note of thanks goes to Father Tom of St. Joseph’s Church in Canton, Ohio, for his spiritual comfort.
